Funded By Happy ThoughtsNew State of Illinois government agencies proclaimed this week:
the Office of New Americans Policy and Advocacy (which, oddly, appears to have no interest in deporting the illegal New Americans),
the Illinois Department of Juvenile Justice and
whatever edict-run monstrosity will manage the AllKids program.
State of Illinois government agencies closed this week because they're useless vestigial organs that serve no purpose but to consume tax dollars: N/A.
Likewise, nearly a million dollars of the "Opportunity Returns" fund, which was originally advertised as being used to help businesses and entrepreneurs in impoverished areas (read: downstate) revitalize, is being given to the City of Chicago
to recycle old computers. How this will help opportunity return is unclear, especially since it appears to be designed to provide jobs for ex-cons.
Meanwhile,
the Governor wants to sell off the state's student loans, possibly without legislative approval, to pour the cash straight into the general fund instead of putting it back into higher education.
"It's just another device to postpone the financial realities that are facing the state," [Rep. David Leitch] said. "No financially responsible administration would even think about this, let alone do it."
In news that would make about as much sense, Governor Blagojevich was seen hocking his limo on
Maxwell Street to buy a CTA pass.

Blagojevich won't be satisfied until he degenerates Illinois into 'California with snow'.
A Libertarian's worst nightmare.

Recent trends support the idea that homeowners are realizing this and are refinancing to take advantage of today's lower rates while they are still available.
